Open Water 5th & 6th March 2011

This weekend Brett Poole and  I took 5 students through their PADI Open Water certification and 1 person on a DSD (discover scuba diving)

(Left to Right) Kate, Soojin, Ben,Alex, Brett,  Maria, Me and Jeff

The weather was quite cloudy and the swell was up which is good and bad respectively for diving. We spent the first 2/3 of Saturday in the pool completing confined water dives 1-4 before heading off to Lilli Pilly for our first open water dive.

The whole crew off for their first open water dive at Lilly Pilly

The visibility was quite good and I managed to get a few pictures of the students on their first dive. Brett and I took the group along the shark net at Lily Pilli and out across the reef. There are some really nice areas along here and the visibility was about 5M which was OK given the ocean conditions and the rain.

Day 2 had a perfect diving day for us at Bare Isalnd. The visibility was 15- 20 M at times, a treat usually only reserved for the colder months.
We completed open water dive 2, 3 and 4 and everyone successfully entered the ranks of PADI open water scuba diver.
They are a really nice group of people and I would love to go diving again with them. I know Maria, Jeff and Alex are all going back overseas soon so I wish them well and hope they have many great dives.

Me, does my face look fat in this- Newsflash! :)
